NEW FOR 2026!!!!
The Dixie Youth Colonels football program was founded in 2019 as the youth feeder system for Turkey Foot Middle School and Dixie Heights High School. We are not directly affiliated with either school, nor the Kenton County School District. Starting in the fall of 2026, we will be forming an all girls flag football team to compete in the inaugural Northern Kentucky Youth Football League (NKYFL) Girls Flag Football League.
Our girls flag football program is open to all girls ages 8 through 12 that live within the district that has been defined by the NKYFL. Our district includes Edgewood, part of Erlanger, part of Crestview Hills, part of Lakeside Park, part of Ft. Wright, and part of Independence. If your child lives in these areas and attends Hinsdale, Caywood, St. Pius, or Turkey Foot, your child is likely eligible to play in our program.
DIVISIONS
In the inaugural season, the NKYFL will not have divisions based on age. All girls will be on one team. However, if each program has enough girls to form multiple teams, they will be grouped based on age.
The age cutoff is August 1st. Therefore, your child's age on July 31st of the current season will determine if they are eligible to play. As long as they are 8, 9, 10, 11, or 12 on July 31st of the currently season, they are eligible to play.
PRACTICES
All teams will practice at Pioneer Park located at 3952 Madison Pike, Covington, KY 41017. Practices will begin mid July and run through the end of the season, which is generally beginning of October.
The girls will practice at least 1 night a week throughout the season. Practices will run roughly 1.5 hours each night.
GAMES
In the inaugural season, games will be played on Saturday or Sunday prior to the tackle football games. Games on Saturdays will start around 11:00, and Sunday games will start around 10:00. These times are subject to change as the NKYFL lays out their schedule for the upcoming season.
